Sophmore-itis

I've been a MAJOR fan of Heroes since I saw the previews before the show came out.  I just couldn't quite get where they were going with a guy who was concentrating on a clock, or a girl who jumped off a building structure to just get back up again putting her shoulder back in her socket and claiming in was unsuccessful attempt number whatever at death.  I watched the first episode and wasn't completely sold.  The second episode sold me though.  I just loved the characters, the intensity in which you had to watch the show in order to get it.  It completely let me flee reality.

Now, Heroes is floundering in season two.  I had my doubts starting way back at the end of season one when Hiro dropped into Japan in the 1600's.  The season started out okay, but quickly is down spiraling.  They've started to clean up their act, though, by having Hiro telling his story through the notes left to Ando, for example.  They're finally getting Peter closer to the rest of the heroes instead of floundering in Ireland for no real reason.  Last year was full of tight concise story lines.  This year is full of gaping holes.  Heroes fight bad guys.  They don't try to go back to being ordinary, not ever using their powers.  With Linderman gone and Sylar without his powers, who will the Heroes fight off?

I do have hope for next week's episode.  I had to rewind the tape a few times to make sure I heard it correctly.  It said something about changing history.  With Hiro having kissed Yaeko, and Kensei turning out to truly be a jerk, what has Hiro done by staying in the past?  Maybe Hiro's random story line will actually bear some relevance on the rest of the heroes?

Congrats, Red Sox!

Congratulations to Boston.  Now we can resume our TV viewing schedules...at least until the possible writers strike.

I didn't write about the movies I saw this weekend.  I watched Death of a President.  I don't have much to say on the movie, but the surprise I have that it actually became available for viewing in the US.  I know we have freedom of speech, but a fake documentary on the assassination of a living person.  Intriguing...

Georgia Rule is the other movie I watched.  I don't actually remember the previews for this movie when it was in the theaters, but wow...  I also didn't realize it was a Gary Marshall film either until the very end.  I LOVE Gary Marshall as a director.  Lindsey Lohan, Felicity Huffman, and Jane Fonda as the three leading ladies who are trying to figure life out.  Lohan plays a troubled teenager (like all her roles...) who goes to live with her Grandma Georgia for the summer.  It comes to light that her step father molested her.  Wow...you never really knew if you could believe her or not because she lied all the time.  It was a good movie.  "A Chick Flick" as some may say, but a must see none-the-less.

I See Dead People...

Seeing dead people has to be a first, even for House.  Well, I should say seeing dead people if you aren't a medium like KTTC's Medium or Ghost Whisperer.  In last night's episode, the patient, Irene, I believe, was seeing her dead mother.  I was surprised because I didn't see it coming that her mother was dead when Irene had the MRI in the beginning of the show.  And that was after I'd seen the previews for this week's show.  It was a good way to bring last week's patient back (the guy in the wheelchair with the dog) and torment some of House's new underlings.  What I want to know is who Walt was.  We, as an audience, saw him there and he did look kind of like House.  House said he didn't have a grandpa Walt, but why would Irene have that vision.  We found out why she was having the visions of the wheelchair guy (the cutthroat ----- let it slip to the patient).  I hope the producers bring that arc back.

The other thing I love about this season of House is the "reality game show" he is running.  (I liked Bosley though and hope they bring him back somehow.)  Last week, House did his elimination via Survivor.  This week, it was The Bachelor.  I hope they continue this little spoof.

Kid Nation, Criminal Minds, and Life, on our very own KTTC, tomorrow.  (I have to say that I have been intrigued by Life and I still can't figure out why.)

A Cargo Jet

Monday night on TV was a blast.  My night started out with Prison Break on FOX 47.  I shrieked when Michael was looking out the window with the one half of the binoculars, turns around for a minute, turns back around to look out the window and see the guard looking down the rifle at him and shooting!!!  Hello!  I think it was then the first time I've seen Michael stumped, when the guards started to break the kneecaps of the other prisoners.  He had to say it was his cell, but then the guard wanted to know what he was doing.  How was he going to get out of that?  Well, Whistler saved him and with a birdwatching excuse nonetheless.

What's with the new guy in Sona?  We know Whistler is Australian.  The new guy seems to be Australian, too.  He seems to know Whistler, but Whistler pretends not to know him.  And he says something about the Ambassador.  Whistler's story isn't what it seems to be.  He's more than just a fisherman.

And Heroes on KTTC...I was reading in TV Guide that one of their writers thinks that Heroes isn't up to par.  That it's far less than last year.  Well, yeah, I guess it is, but I have hope for it.  The sending Hiro back to the 1600's.  Huh?  If he were to bring his childhood hero and the princess back to nowadays, that would interesting.  I like Nathan and Parkman teaming up.  "Hello, I'm not a cargo jet!"  I died laughing when Nathan said this to Parkman.  And then the two of them meeting up with Parkman's dad.  He is the nightmare man.  At least Parkman was able to pull them out of their nightmares, but what about Molly?  Now we know what's going on with her, but "The Company" has her.  Suresh, I don't know.  Also, I think it's ironic how Suresh just tazes Micah's mom and then is sent to find Micah's cousin.  Is this how they are tracking down heroes?  Something about blood relations?  Because we know that "The Company" had a way of tracking them down before Dr. Suresh found his formula.

At any rate, I think Heroes will pull out of it's slump, and Prison Break is still going strong.

Optimus Prime

So, I tossed in Cloak and Dagger to watch, but ended up watching The Suite Life of Zack and Cody on the Disney Channel.  Hey, I gotta keep in touch with my nieces and nephews somehow.  Then last night, I watched Transformers.  Optimus Prime rules!  And so does Bumblebee.

For those of you who missed out on Transformers, the movie was so cool.  Optimus Prime, the main Transformer guy, is trying to protect Earth from Megatron and the Decepticons.  For someone who watched the show twenty some years ago, and caught a few episodes in college, the movie did a great job of following the plot line of the cartoon.  In college, the Transformers were big.  Hey, I was a Design Tech student at Bemidji State University where kids were actually building models of Transformers in class for assignments.

As for the acting?  Shia LeBeouf has done and is doing a good job of moving from goofy child actor to acting in adult movies like Disturbia and Transformers.

The Red Sox have taken the ALCS and are moving to the World Series starting Wednesday.  That's fine, because that means, I can watch Prison Break, K-Ville, Heroes, and Journeyman!!!  More tomorrow people.

Cloak and Dagger

So, Boston has battled back and we have another game tomorrow night.  That's okay I guess though because I can watch a movie.  I have this great old movie that I bought on e-bay that I haven't seen in a long time.  Cloak and Dagger.  It's from 1984.  The kid in it is the kid from E.T.  Cloak and Dagger is every kids dream.  A secret agent from a game comes alive and this kid helps him fight the bad guys while no adult believes his story.

Here's the plot summary from imdb.net...

11-year-old Davey, whose mother is dead and whose father is preoccupied with his own problems, has retreated into a world of video games and an imaginary hero-pal, the swashbuckling superspy Jack Flack. When an FBI agent about to be murdered slips him a video cartridge containing top-secret data, Davey is suddenly plunged into the intrigue and danger of real-life espionage. No adult believes his story, so he must run a gauntlet of violence and villainy aided only by a younger girl and the encouragement of "Jack Flack" at his side. How long can a comic-book role model guide him through this encounter with reality?

For those of you who may want to know why I didn't write up anything yesterday...I was kind of disappointed in TV.  On Kid Nation, there was a town council election and Taylor got voted out (THANK YOU KIDS!!!), now a fairly unknown kid, Guylan, is on the council for the red district, and Greg showed some compassion towards the younger kids, getting him the gold star.  Nothing overwhelming, only politics rearing it's ugly head in a town of children.  Criminal Minds had a kind of surprising ending, but I actually guessed this ending before Aaron Hotchner figured it out.  Oh, well.  I guess this weekend for me will have some movies in it.

"The Company"

A while ago I read an article talking about how after a time of crisis, the world of entertainment turns to superheroes.  Superman, Batman, The Phantom, Spiderman.  Comic book heroes became popular again after 9/11.  The TV show Heroes is a prime example.  In the pilot, they even talk about how things change after a time of crisis.  What I find interesting is how two TV shows at least are fighting against "The Company".  (The shows being Prison Break and Heroes.)  In Prison Break, "The Company" has been playing with Michael and Linc's lives since the start.  In Heroes, "The Company" is tracking down the heroes and trying to help them, or at least so they say.  With the elections coming up, I have to question if Hollywood is trying to make a statement against the government.

On a lighter note, with the Indians being up 3 games to the Red Sox 1, we are closer to have regular programming back on FOX 47.  I guess for tonight, the TV schedule is Kid Nation, Criminal Minds, and Kitchen Nightmares.

Last night, I watched Law & Order:SVU.  While the show itself was really good, there was nothing outstanding about it.  I wasn't overly impressed, except with that little girl's acting ability.  For those of you who didn't watch, a little mentally impaired girl (maybe 8 yrs old) was the only witness to a crime.  But every night can't be a standout night, I guess.

Well, more tomorrow...

What next?

Heroes is an on the edge of your seat, what's going to happen next? show.  Yet, there is no blood and gore.

Last week ended with questions about Linderman and finding out for sure that there was a first generation of heroes.  Now I don't know about you, but I kind of suspected this from the beginning, when I found out that Charles, the guy in the wheelchair, knew the Petrelli mom and he could then see Peter when Peter was time traveling.  In this episode, we now know that Mr. and Mrs. Petrelli, Hiro's dad, Charles, Bob (Mohinder's new boss), Linderman, AND Parkman's dad, were all part of the first group of Heroes.  I was blown away to find out about Parkman's connection, but I shouldn't have been surprised.  I mean of the current Heroes, Hiro's dad was an original, Claire's dad was an original, Nathan and Peter's parents were both originals...everyone seems to have a tie to the first group who formed "The Company".

Well, we have to wait til next to find out how Molly handled finding her boogeyman (Parkman's dad for those of you who haven't watched).  SIDENOTE:  It was tearjerking to hear Molly calling to Matt to help her when she had fainted.  BACK AGAIN:  We also have to wait to find out what's happened to Peter.  He can have his life back, but he doesn't seem to want it back.  Also, what about Hiro?  Is he going to stay in the past, or is he going to come back?

Stay tuned for my thoughts...however jumbled they may seem.

:)

Baseball?

Now don't get me wrong...I love baseball, but I was so looking forward to Prison Break.  Last week when Lincoln just couldn't tell Michael about Sara, it was heartbreaking.  Then he just blurted it out in front of Sucre.

I was worried that Prison Break would go downhill because they are essentially repeating season one, only this time Michael's on the inside and Linc's out, but that's not what's happening.  The premise is the same, but Michael doesn't have a plan.  He's flying by the seat of his pants.  LJ is being held hostage.  What more can Michael do?  This show is almost a modern day MacGyver is some aspects.

At least I get Heroes and Journeyman tonight.  Journeyman is a show I didn't even plan to start on watching, but I'm actually kind of hooked...if they do things right.  They have to explain why he's leaping around in time.  Time travel isn't new to TV, Quantum Leap being one of my favorite shows, but Sam Beckett had a reason for leaping AND a reason he couldn't stop.  But with Dan from Journeyman, what's his reason.  Is it that God chose him to leap around in time or someone has a machine out there?  I don't know...I just hope they have a reasonable explanation.

I'll save my Heroes comments for tomorrow!!!

Coming soon to a blog near you!!!

Hey, everybody!!!

The day is finally here.  My blog is online.  I am so excited that I don't know what to say.  I will figure that out and have a post up soon.  By Monday I'm sure since Monday has GOT to be one of my favorite nights of TV...I mean, hello, Prison Break, K-Ville, Heroes, Journeyman...
